Herewith last night’s Report from Peter Westlake. Congratulations to Peter for his victory in the Army & Navy Veterans! Jim T

Saturday, 19 Aug 2017

Conditions were, for the most part relatively steady, with winds out of the west.  While it threatened to rain throughout the day, we managed to stay dry.  The first relay of the Army & Navy Veterans match was trickier however, which caused some challenges for the competitors.

The Black Powder matches continued today firing three long range matches.  This completed the Black Powder Aggregates and concurrent team matches.  Winners are as follows:

700m:  Clayton Grove, NY, USA – 44v2

800m:  Ken Pearcey, Bracebridge ON – 46v2

900m:  Cody Hicks, NY, USA – 43v0

BP Long Range Aggregate:  Ken Pearcey, Bracebridge ON – 127v3

BP Grand Aggregate:  Cody Hicks, NY, USA – 264v7

BP Ranger Cup (Team):  “Directors Cut” (Chris Jones, Frank Monikowski, Cody Hicks) – 365v9

The Gooderham was fired this morning and there was some very high scoring.  Benjamin Craig, UK won the match with a 100v17.

The final two matches of the Sierra Long Range Challenge were also fired this afternoon (15 shots to count at 800 metres and 900 metres).  Conditions were relatively mild, which contributed to some high scoring.  Top scores were achieved by Mark Trew, PA, USA (75v13 at 800M) and Mahendra Persaud, Guyana (75v7 at 900M).  The unofficial winner of the Sierra Long Range Challenge is Ian Hogg, Stratford PEI.

The Army & Navy Veterans was won by Peter Westlake, Barrie ON with a 75.9

Today marked the final stage for the Canadian Commonwealth Games selection.  After four ranges today, added to a two year aggregate, I am pleased to announce that Canada will be represented by Nicole Rossignol, Quebec QC, and Robert Pitcairn, Chilliwack BC at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.  The spare shooter will be James Paton, White Rock BC.

Finally, the day ended with a tie shoot to decide the winner of the Ottawa Regiment.  Ian Shaw, UK won the tie shoot and thus the match with a score of 25v3, just beating out Fazal Mohideen, Pickering, ON, who fired a 25v2.

Tomorrow marks the completion of the warm up matches with the firing of the Tilton match and the start of the Grand Aggregate in the afternoon.
