Wed 18 Aug 2010
If I make any howlers tonight, the cause rests mostly on the fact that I’ve just got back from the GB-USA Party at Connaught. A glass or two of Pimms works wonders. That, plus the excellent marinated salmon and a good Ontario Pinot Noir for dinner, and Colin Brown dropping in for a wee dram, could make this an “interesting” report!
I do remember that this was another beautiful day, mostly sunny with some high overcast. There was still a changeable wind, but it had far less strength than yesterday. Tomorrow, it is said, will start sunny, but there may be increasing cloudiness in the afternoon with a few showers and the risk of a thunderstorm late in the afternoon. Let us hope that late means late.
One match was fired today, the President’s, 10 shots at 300m, 500 and 600 yards. The 800m range of the Gibson was also fired, with 300m and 600y to come in the morning. In the President’s, the outright winner was David Armstrong (Woking, Surrey, UK) with 150.25. There were three scores of 150.23, from Paul Sykes (Cambridgeshire, UK), Gary Alexander (Swindon, Wilts, UK) and Kent Reeve (Cary, NC, USA). There were 14 150s in all. In the F(O) Class, David and Dawie Westhuizen (Sunland, South Africa) headed the list with 148.18 and 148.11 respectively. And in F(F), Jeffrey Rorer (Winterville, NC, USA) had 150.17, just ahead of Matt Wolf (Mascarene, NB) 149.16.
The
day’s aggregate is for the Gil Boa Trophy. In TR, David Armstrong (31V),
Paul Sykes (29V), Kent Reeve (28V) and Pat Vamplew (Whitby,
ON) (24V) all has 200/200. Dawie Westhuizen
won the F(O) from David with 198.16 to 196.23. Jeffrey
Rorer 195.19 beat Matt Wolf 193.17 in F(F).
Standings
in the Grand Aggregate, with 175 points still to go are (for ease of typing, I’ll
copy out the first few places in each class):
