Australia Match
2013 – Barbados, West Indies
The DCRA has received the
official invitation from the West Indies
Fullbore Shooting Council for participation in the Australia Match to be held in
Barbados in May 2013. If there are sufficient entries, there will also be an
Under-25 Australia Match. The team shooting strengths are 10 and 5 respectively.
These matches will form part of the West Indies Fullbore Rifle Championships
scheduled to start on 13 May, with the Australia Matches being held on 19 May,
or a day earlier depending on the entry.
This will be the first time that this prestigious
international shooting event has been held in the West Indies. The Match comes
under the overall jurisdiction of ICFRA, but can only be held with the sanction
and participation of an official Australian Team. ICFRA is strongly encouraging
member countries to take part, as stated by the Secretary-General: “I sincerely
hope that members will take the opportunity to participate and support our
friends in the West Indies for whom opportunities to host major International
fixtures are limited.”
The Match will be fired under ICFRA Rules. It should be noted
that hand loading of ammunition is not permitted by law in the West Indies
countries, and that the match will necessarily be shot using a batch of high
quality ammunition imported for the purpose. ICFRA will endeavour to ensure
that the technical parameters of the load are published to all participants in
advance.
Since there is not a great deal of time to organise a
Canadian Team, or Teams, DCRA members are asked to send expressions of interest
and of willingness to join the Team(s) to the DCRA as quickly as possible.
Please make your interest known by 15 March 2012, so that
discussion may be held during the weekend of the DCRA AGM as to whether it may
be possible to send a Canadian Team, or Teams, and what level of recognition and
support they should receive from the DCRA.
Nominations, which may
include self-nominations, for the Captain(s) of the Team, or Teams, should also
be in the hands of the DCRA by that date. The Captain(s) will be responsible for
all matters to do with the formation and arrangements of the Canadian Team(s).
Please contact the DCRA at
office@dcra.ca as quickly as possible!

DCRA Policies for International Teams
The DCRA International Teams Sub-Committee has presented to the Executive
Committee a revised statement of policies and priorities regarding International
Teams. Following considerable discussion, prior to and at the Executive Meeting
in April and by a further mail ballot in May 2009, the Executive Committee
approved the statement as a general framework of DCRA policy regarding Canadian
International Teams. This policy is now in effect, with Executive Committee
approval required for funding allocations.
